About miraDry®

miraDry® is an incredibly simple treatment that takes around 60 minutes to complete. It’s a non-surgical procedure that typically consists of three main steps. The first step involves applying local anesthesia to the underarm area. In step two, your doctor will produce a temporary tattoo that marks the treatment area under your arms. This allows Dr. Brenman to see where he should place the unique miraDry® handpiece. From here, the treatment is carried out to solve the issue of excessive sweating. Results are seen very quickly, and they will last.

One of the benefits of miraDry® is that it involves no chemicals or toxins at all. It’s a natural treatment with hardly any downtime and minimal side effects. Thus, it’s seen as the best way to treat hyperhidrosis.

About Hyperhidrosis

It’s estimated that around 2-3% of Americans suffer from this condition. In essence, hyperhidrosis is where you produce more underarm sweat than is considered normal. Everyone sweats, but you sweat an abnormal amount regardless of what you’re doing. It can cause issues with body odor, clothes staining, and make it hard for you to live your life.

It’s far from a serious medical condition, but it does have a negative impact on your life. The worst thing is, people suffering from hyperhidrosis are constantly anxious and worried that they’ve got visible sweat patches. As such, this anxiety only worsens the condition and makes you sweat more.

How Does miraDry® Treat Hyperhidrosis?

The premise behind miraDry® treatment is actually very straightforward. What causes sweat to form under your arms? You have glands there that produce sweat and the typical odor that comes with it. Thus, you can eliminate this problem by getting rid of these glands.

Effectively, that’s what miraDry® does. The handpiece works in two ways to do this. Firstly, it attaches to your skin and lifts it upwards. This brings the glands closer to the surface, where they are subjected to a burst of thermal energy. This eliminates the sweat glands, meaning you no longer sweat! The miraDry® handpiece will also apply a cooling sensation while this goes on to help minimize any discomfort.

The main worry is that you’re harming your body by reducing the ability to sweat. Yes, the human body needs to sweat as it helps with regulating body heat. However, you still have numerous sweat glands all over your body. This will only prevent underarm sweat, which is usually the biggest cause of embarrassment.
